1. Insert-and-Run Disk.

    a. To run from the floppy disk, click on TRUESS.EXE
in the TRUESS folder or directory.

    b. To copy to a hard disk, drag the entire TRUESS
folder or directory to the hard disk.

    c. To locate and manage files, please read on.

2. Zipped Programs.

    a. Unzip the program in a folder or directory named
TRUESS to install or click on Install.exe.

    b. An icon is available for Windows 3.1. Windows 95
properly shows the icon with the program.

3. Folders (Directories and Subdirectories).

    a. TRUESS is the program root folder. It contains
all parts of the program and several sample test
files. On the first run of the program, it creates
three more folders and copies the sample test
	files to the TESTS folder.

    b. TRUESS\TESTS contains the sample unformatted test
files. It also receives all of your new, edited,
and pooled unformatted files. These files show in
	the Test Menu selection box.

    c. TRUESS\PRINTOUT receives all text files created
by formatting questions for a paper test or for
	transfer to True Test Writer.

True Study Skills creates test files best viewed
	with Courier, size 12, 10 characters/inch. Single
column tests have 1/2 inch left and right margins.
Double column tests have one inch margins.

    d. TRUESS\SCORES receives test scores and individual
	diagnostic graphs and charts.

4. VBRUN300.DLL:

The run-time file, VBRUN300.DLL, is included to
insure the program will run on any computer. If your
computer has a copy of VBRUN300.DLL, and it is in a
usable path, you can deactivate this disk copy.
Rename VBRUN300.DLL to VBRUN300.DL_ on this disk.
Then your computer will use its own copy. This saves
loading time when starting the program.

5. Test Instruction Heading:

TrueHead.INI contains a sample test heading.
TrueHead.Txt contains the test heading used when
scoring by knowledge and judgment. The test scoring
program, TRUE SCORE, uses these same instructions to
score paper tests both in the traditional way (answer
all items) and when scoring by knowledge and judgment
(select items to report what you know and can
do with confidence). Use them as models for your own
    test instructions.
