Introduction

     Thank you for downloading this demo of DigitalFootprints Authenti-Key
     (AKEY) for NT. AKEY allows you to login dynamically to a Windows Operating
     System without closing all programs and logging off the current user.

     NT 2000 and XP Operating Systems:
     AKEY can be used to access share, files and any part of the operating system
     with a different user context without logging of the current user. There is
     a standard GUI interface where you can enter your login credinentials
     and spawn a new dos command window with the new user security token. Now
     any process which you launch will use this security token. There is a
     command line interface that you can pass the your login credientials along
     with a target file. This will login the user and execute the file without
     logging off the current user. Excellent choice for running installation
     application on protected shares that require login scripts. Excellent choice
     for running installation setups that require Administration rights on a box
     where the logged in user does not have rights. See full feature set for more
     examples of the power of AKEY.

     95, 98 , ME:
     AKEY can be used to switch users on 95, 98, Me operating systems without
     having to close all programs and log off the current user. (Example of usage.
     You have a user that is logged into 98 with an NT Domain. You need to access
     software/files/utilites etc on your network that this user does not have
     access to. You can use AKEY to login with credentials that has access to
     the files without closing all programs and logging the user off.)

Installation

     Akey is compiled for distribution using the Microsoft Windows Installer
     (MSI) method wrapped with the Web Deploy Wise for Windows Installer stub.
     This install will add AKEY to your list of available programs. To launch
     the product select start-programs-digitalfootprint-Akey.exe. To uninstall
     Add Remove Programs from your control panel. Select DigitalFootprint Akey
     then click remove.

         1 = Login Locally*

     * you must have rights to logon to the local machine. You would use this feature
     if you are using this to install software that requires administration rights on
     the local box and your master domain account does not have administartion access to
     the operating system.

     Example of the powers of AKEY
     From the command prompt:
     * you could launch iexplore c:\ and have full access to the machine even though
     the local account does not.
     * you could establish a network connection to the shared device using:
       net use * \\someserver\someshare
     * install software
     * add services
     * the list goes on and on.
