WinKaraoke Player 1.5 README
----------------------------

Installation
------------
After unzipping the files in this archive to a directory, run "SETUP.EXE".

History
-------
Changes to WinKaraoke Player can be found in HISTORY.TXT, called "Revision History" in the program group.

Known Problems
--------------
When changing the position of the song to a different lyric, the music and words may not be synchronized in playback. This is a problem with the Windows MCI (Media Control Interface) pausing and then reporting an incorrect position in the song. Try starting from a different lyric in the song. It MAY NOT be possible to start anywhere except at the beginning of the song with some karaoke files.

Note: This probably will not be fixed until Microsoft rewrites MCI. It apparantly has not been changed significantly since Windows 3.1. MMSYSTEM.DLL is still 16-bit code, accessed through a "thunked" 32-bit DLL called WINMM.DLL. This means Windows has to "switch" from 32-bit to 16-bit operation in order to run the 16-bit code.

Thanks
------
Thanks to all the people who registered WinKaraoke Player when it was shareware. If it wasn't for your support, I wouldn't still be playing around with this today!

Also, thanks to:

Tim Jensen for some ideas and testing,
and
Vincenzo Palleschi for help with synchronization problems when using MCI's buggy interface- If you need a Karaoke program with recording options, look at Midi-Oke! 2.3...
