PeachWare Utilities v1.0 - Freeware

OVERVIEW:

PeachWare Utilities is a package of utilities written for Windows network administrators. The package currently consists of three programs that provide added functionality without requiring the use of SMS or editing the registry. Thre programs are designed to be run locally or from a mapped drive during network logon. If you are running from a mapped drive install the utilities on the SERVER then use the setup /s option from the command line to setup the CLIENTS. This will ensure that the Clients get the proper support files but NOT the applications.

COMPATIBILITY:

This program has been tested on Windows 2000 and Windows 9x. It should work on NT4, but has not been tested on this platform. Installation on NT4 systems is at the users own risk. Previous experience has shown that VB5 is sometimes problematic on NT4. Be sure to evaluate these utilities on a non-production machine if you are using NT4.

INSTALLATION:

Server: Run setup.exe

Client: For Local use run setup.exe- if you will be running the programs from a logon script and mapped drive you must install from the command line using the command setup /s

INCLUDED PROGRAMS:

logoff.exe:
A simple program that can be called from the command line to logoff a user. Useful on the server and can be useful if run on a client through a scheduler. Usage- logoff.exe brings up the GUI interface- not very useful in most respects but logoff /q invokes the quiet mode and logs off the user.

banner.exe:
A logon banner that displays your usage agreement. The user MUST select accept or they will be logged off of Windows. The usage agreement is a RTF file named logon.rtf and must be located in the same directory as the executable. Yes, you may use graphics in the rtf file as long as you make sure you imbed the graphic. linking the graphic may cause unpredictable results depending on the configuration of your paths.

motd.exe:
A program that emulates the UNIX message of the day program. Great for displaying a custom message to users. The Message file is a rich text file named motd.rtf and must be in the same directory as the executable. Again you may use imbedded graphics if you desire.
