Your copy of Windows 95 may already have been upgraded. If not, please follow the instructions in

See the help for more !

B2)  Installation & Getting Started
---------------------------------
Run the installation program SETUP.EXE. You may choose a desktop icon, an icon on the Start menu and options under Start / Programs.

Now you're ready to run WatchetZip! There are 2 main options :

	* select Direct to CD/DVD to create a temporary zip file and then use the Burn button to write it to CD or DVD

or
	* just drag-and-drop your files to create a zip file on hard disk

C) Installation Issues/Problems
===============================
C1) Windows versions other than 95 & NT
---------------------------------------
To the best of our knowledge installing under Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP will not cause you any significant problems - although there are many flavours of each which may
affect the result. Please check the forum or email us at support@watchetsoft.co.uk if you do experience problems.

SOME MENU OPTIONS GRAYED
========================
In some instances and with some versions of 98, ME, 2000 or XP you may find that the initial registration process for the trial version does not immediately enable the menu options.

ACTION : Close program and restart. This should enable all options - until the expiry of the 30-day trial period. If not, please contact us via email at support@watchetsoft.com
Note that we have always found that running the program again solves this immediately so it should do for you too.

C2) Installing under Windows 95 & NT
===================================
This includes :

	* Buttons not visible - needs later version of common controls library
	* Microsoft HTML help needs upgrade file and (NT) later version of Microsoft Internet Explorer

IF YOU CAN'T SEE THE BUTTONS
============================
If the buttons are not enabled then you should see the message :
"WatchetZip! has determined that the common controls library on your computer has a version number of 4.70. Normally a version of at least 5.0 is required. This may mean that the buttons on the launcher are blank."

If you're installing WatchetZip! you should see buttons beneath the menus.

This you don't see the buttons it means you need to update your Microsoft Common Controls library.

ACTION : Obtain 50COMUPD.EXE from www.watchetsoft.co.uk or
from www.microsoft.com - or if you received WatchetZip! on CD you may find it in a folder called MS_UPDATES or something similar on the CD.
Run the executable to upgrade

IF YOU CAN'T USE MICROSOFT HTML HELP
====================================
If you don't have the correct files to run Microsoft html help you may see the message :
"WatchetZip! could not find the help display program on your computer.
You will need to download the file HHUPD.EXE from the Watchet! or Microsoft web sites. If this program is not present Watchet! will still run but the help system will be unavailable."

Alternatively, when you start WatchetZip! you will see WatchetZip! Help on the Program menus.
If this doesn't have the yellow query icon next to it then you probably won't be able to use Microsoft compiled help (.chm) files.

Check this when you enter the WatchetZip! program. From the Tips screen you'll see that most tips have a link to the help file (.chm). The open book icon shows those tips which have links to the help file. If nothing
happens when you click on the open book then you should try the following steps :

i)  Windows '95 and NT

ACTION : Download the file HHUPD.EXE from the WatchetSoft or Microsoft web sites and install by running this executable.

ii)  Windows NT
You may find on attempting to use the help that you get a message saying the file SHLWAPI.DLL cannot be found. This normally indicates that you need to install a later version of Microsoft Internet Explorer e.g. IE 5.

C3)  CD and DVD writers
=======================

WatchetZip! uses a built-in ASPI layer so you should find that your CD or DVD writer is usable with WatchetZip! The only exception we know of with very early CD writers.
However, no-one's perfect so please try WatchetZip! free for 30 days. If you experience problems please contact us either via the forum (accessible from the website at
www.watchetsoft.co.uk) or by email to support@watchetsoft.com

DVD-writers are a newish and fast-growing breed. Most of the commonly available ones can be used via WatchetZip! If you find yours doesn't work with WatchetZip! although
it does work with the software issued with the drive then again, please check the forum or contact us at support@watchetsoft.com
