Andrews comments are all right on the mark. The only thing that I would add
reguards line stretching. It seems that, no matter how long or hard I
stretch lines by hand, they continue to stretch more during flying where a
constant tension is held for longer periods. Not a problem for two line
kites but sometimes a hassle readjusting brake lines on quads.

I have a long fence line with a convenient tree and light pole at one end. I
nail a pulley to the far end of the fence, loop my new line around it, put
temporary loops in the other ends, and larkshead them to a larger single
line which is fed through another pulley at the light pole or tree and
attached to a dangling weight. One or two gallons of old paint or a plastic
milk bottle of water works well. After 24-48 hours, *all* of the line
stretch is gone!

This works really well for spectra line that comes on a spool. Spooled line
stretches more on the line that was on the inner wraps (closer to the core)
than the outer ones. Without prestretching, one of my lines always ends up
longer after several hours of use.

Hey, it might work to wrap the line around the light pole with the other end
attached to the trailer hitch on my van. Then I could park the van down the
hill, overnight, with the brakes off! :-)
