Hi All

Does anyone have any experience mounting "ice skates" on a buggy?
There was an article some time ago in the Dutch magazine "Vlieger" but
I would like to have more info.
While thinking about it some questions came up:

should the blades be straight or curved?
what is the best "cutting edge"?
How about mounting the blades of speed skates?

Hope someone can save me some time experimenting,

Peter

When I look outside it's raining Peter, so you have to hurry ;-)

I don't have any ice blades under my buggy, but it's something I
definitely will do before the next ice period.

Here's what I know:

Use curved blades, they go faster. Sharpen them as knives and keep
them like that, otherwise you'll drift. And of course you should use
stainless steel.

The question I have is how to mount them. They probably should have
the same height as a buggy wheel (well, half the height). Should they
bey mounted tight ?

see you on the ice, sometime...

Hi Peter,
I have been buggying on snow and ice for three winters now and gained
some expirience. I would be happy to mail you some pictures and
sketches, but not on the list here. Please drop me a note and I will
send the stuff out.
Take care

             Hans

Did it, Done it, Iced It

Today, Januari 7th Corne and I Ice byggied on the Gooimeer at the
Stichtse brug using knife-shaped skates, which were not excactly
right for the job, but what the **** we had loads of fun. Doing
360 degree turn is a piece of (ice)cake, as is skating sideways.
Top speeds of approx 18 mph through 1 inch of water on top of the
ice. In short, it was wet 'n wild ( cold too ).

Do you think we should change the steering skate into a long, or
relatively short skate ?? The one we had, sucked !!!

Hi,

now that I have finally got a buggy, I was
studying the recent posts about buggy topics
and also read in the sputnik-bible. There
I found some references to buggying on ice.

Are there any tips, plans or advice floating around
on how to tune the buggy for going on ice?
Or maybe on snow covered surfaces?

I think someone from Canada has posted recently
something, but I couldn't find it in the archives.

Peter, any advice from Sweden?

howmanydays and counting til Fanoe,

Bernhard
