 I just bought a 12ft section of timber bamboo at a Costume & Display
store here in Seattle.  The fighter people I have queried here all told me
this is the place to go.

 Also some upscale gardening clubs and stores hold classes on bamboo
splitting for various and sundry projects.  They may be an alternate
source.
