The AKA season is from August 1 to July 31 in order to provide timely invitations for the fall convention. There are six conferences with boundaries and commissioners as follows: Northeast Regions 1 & 2 Susie Edision 203-531-1084 Southeast Regions 3 & 4 Sherrie Arnold 703-765-5668 Midwest Regions 5 & 6 Al Hargus 614-475-8468 Central Regions 7 & 8 Richard Dermer 405-372-6127 Northwest AK,ID, OR, WA Genny Forsberg 503-357-7557 Pacific Regions 11 & 12, Darrin Skinner 408-733-5483 AZ, NV, NM, UT See your AKA directory for a map of regions. Your conference commissioner can help you with any questions you may have about your scores. An excellent automated score reporting system is available 24 hours a day by calling 408-SEE-4AKA. Individuals may "declare" the conference of their choice at the beginning of each year if they wish to compete in a different conference than they reside; however, that deadline has passed for the 1993-94 season. Your score is the sum of your top five performances; this may include up to two events outside your conference. You also receive one Event point for each competition you enter within your conference. Note: You must be an AKA member in good standing at the time of a competion for your scores to count! Competition points will not be awarded retroactively. The top three fliers in each class from each of the six conferences will be invited to the convention (i.e the top three IIB fliers in each conference, the top three MTP teams in each conference, etc.). Members with specific concerns or suggestions regarding conferences, ranking points, and Grand National qualifying are encouraged to write the Festivals and Competition Committee. The Committee members are the six conference commissioners. Sport kite rules, judging issues, and the actual running of the Grand Nationals are the reponsibility of the Sport Kite Commitee, chaired by Vern Balodis. Hope this helps!
