The committee was directed by the membership to workout the details of the changes. For the 1994 AKA competition season the following changes will be in effect: 1) Up to 2 out-of-conference events may be used in a flyers total score. 2) The averaging portion of the score (1993 rule) has been eliminated. 3) The top 5 scores will be used. So, the 1994 scoring process and policy is summarized like this: A flier must be a current AKA member to receive AKA conference points. AKA awards points to competitors based on how many fliers they beat at a particular event. If there are 8 fliers in a heat, 1st place wins 8 points, and last place wins 1 point. Conference points are earned in both qualifying heats and finals. Fliers also receive 1 Event Point for each event they enter in their conference. Season points in a particular competition category are the sum of scores from the best 5 events in a season, plus all event points earned. Contestants only earn points in the conference where they reside. There are two exceptions to this rule: First, a contestant may include scores from 2 events outside their conference. The best 2 out-of-conference scores will be used *if* it would improve a flyers overall score. Second, a contestant may *declare* that they will compete in a particular conference, even though they do not live in that conference. Declarations must be made by February 15th, 1994. Thats about it! Darrin AKA Pacific Conference commissioner = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
