I've been playing Veritas12 for some weeks now, off and on, but I'm stuck
and I need a little hint.

However, since I'm new to interactive fiction, I'm also wondering about
the ethics of asking for a hint in this newsgroup. Veritas12 is shareware.
According to the game, this means that I'm supposed to send $10 to the
author "if I enjoy the game." In return he'll give me all the hints I want.
Does this mean that I'm only supposed to ask him for hints? Or am I
nevertheless allowed to ask this newsgroup for hints? After all, it's early
in the game, and I don't know yet whether "I'm enjoying it." Also, I've
seen some solutions for shareware games posted in the interactive fiction
archive. This seems to go counter to the idea of shareware. Can someone tell
me what's allowed and what isn't regarding shareware?

Now, back to the hint. I've collected everything (I think) in the dozen or so
rooms which are easily accessible from the beginning. Now it's time to go
somewhere else. My problem is that I still can't figure out how to push the
button once I'm in the small metal box. I've tried asking my friend or
roommate to do it, but that doesn't work. (Or maybe I haven't figured out
the right syntax?) The game says that all of the puzzles are logical, and
that there are hints for most of them, but this one doesn't seem to have any
clues. Any help out there?
