I tried this on my copy of Zork II, and I got the "There seems to be a noun
missing in that sentence" message.  I've got the copy that came in LTOI, so
I can only assume that you were using an older version of Zork II and that
the bug has since been corrected.

By the way, the two red items are the cake and the sphere.
