You should probably say what you mean by "efficient".  Do you mean:

1. Quicker to write,
2. Easier to maintain,
3. Uses as little memory as possible,
4. Faster at run time, or
5. Source code is as simple as possible?

Generally any piece of code can only be optimized for one of the above.
