Others have explained what z8 gets you, but in case you haven't tried the
following as well...

Have you attempted to compile the game with the debugging code off, as you
will when you release the game?  I found that, in a game I've been working
on (for an eternity!), that I have to compile as z8 if I'm working with the
debugging code/Infix in place, but it comfortably fits in z5 format when I
compile without all that excess developmental stuff.
