I'm not sure if this is the right forum to inquire in; I've been looking
for an old i-f game and checked through the archive, but nothing quite
seemed to match.

A long time ago my father used to have a Hyperion (on of the many 1980s
PC-clones), and I distantly remember playing a game which really caught
my interest but had one major flaw: whenever I saved a gave, all the
objects would disappear when I reloaded later. I don't know if this
was some quirk in the programming or with the OS. Anyway...

The start of the game, as are my memories, was vague. You're on
an alien world, wander away from wherever your fellow people are,
but find your return path blocked by some weird invisible forcefield.
Your character is fairly well-equipped with an inventory full of
hiking stuff, including a change of clothes.

You find alien buildings, in fact, you find all sorts of things.
There's a cartridge you retrieve, plug it into a robot, which
you can send by remote-control through some other area that
you can't go into. There are some plants that kill you unless
you visit them at a certain time of day and are wearing the right-
coloured clothes. There's some area with lots of weird lifeforms
that are like electrical beings of some sort. There's
a machine that you can try pouring chemicals into. I remember
climbing a rocky cliff, swimming to an island, catching a fish,
going up a tower and prying off a gem which landed safely in a
bucket which had been lined with moss.

I remember trying to figure out the game by looking through the
game file and finding all the text responses that the game could
give you. A large portion of it had something to do with
laying down wire or something and shorting out one of the alien
beings, which I never got as far as doing. Does any of this
sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks for your time - keep up the great archive!
