Funny you should mention this but I wrote a very similar prog for the ST/Falcon computers. 
Called "TADS SHELL" (for obvious reasons) it actually worked! :) Since I've now got a PC I've 
given the code to Lars Joedal (joedal@inet.uni-c.dk) to continue developing.

I would like to do a simlar thing on the PC but am unsure of which language to use.
