OK, I'm going to close up my activity on this thread. I'd like to thank
you all for the comments. They have certainly caused me to think about
many aspects of Firegods, and chances are good that changes will be made.

I do, however, want to respond to one final note made by three or four of
you. Essentially, what many of you said was "If the player doesn't enjoy
the game, then YOU have made the error."

I do not write so that everyone will be pleased. Unlike others of you,
I'm not looking for a registration fee. Of course I want people to enjoy
my work, and I'm sure that the majority of people will enjoy it.
However, if we are going to make any attempt at proving that interactive
fiction is an art, then we also have to know that some people will not
love our game. Many novels are considered "great," despite the fact that
some people do not like them. Personally, I think that certain books
written by Dickens are far too plot-driven. Some of you might think
Stephen King is an excellent writer.

My point is, that I have no illusions of pleasing every player, and if
some players don't enjoy the game, I certainly won't say that I'm in
error. I will say that not everyone has identical tastes, that we are
each individuals, and that there are other players, those who do enjoy
the game, who will drop me a line saying "This is good work."

I don't ask for much more than that.
