I've seen this same boot error (CD heart beat failure), but only when my
Minix box (andy.mflang.mynet) is -not- plugged into an active network.
When I boot Minix with the box connected to the lan, no error message.
So have you tried this: booting with the box plugged into your local
lan, or at least another box with a cross-over cable?
