Left the machine on overnight, still the same screen. (I'm trying to be
patient :-)

This morning I remade the boot disk (ROOT USR) and tried again, so far
with the same results.

Should I be making 2 partitions (I am using the whole hard drive, which
lists as cyl - 898; head - 14; sec - 61; size - 836070; Kb - 418035) or
just continue to follow the install and example text?

I had to change the partition to "0" & "none" (instead of 81 - minux),
save that change, and then run "part" again and re-set it to 81 - MINUX
to get the program to respond as the example paper indicates.

But the machine seems to be stalling again at the same place. I did find
one old article in the comp.os.minux archives that refereed to this
prtion taking a "long" time, but there was no indication how long (in
minutes, hours, or days) "long" was. I do have a dos program ("check
disk", I believe) that takes a day or two to thouroughly check a HD for
errors (but that program has an message that indicates the program is
working), so if this is the case here (the curser is just blinking on
the bottom left of the screen), I would appreciate someone letting me
know.

Any suggestions? Maybe my limited knowledge of *nix commands and methods
are hampering me. If these questions are too rudimentary, please direct
me to documentation that will get my working knowledge up to the bare
minimum needed here. I have the Tanenbaum book, a few other books on
linux and unix, plus I read a lot of online documentation. (not all of
this information makes sense to me... yet) I am hoping to use Minux to
learn *nix (and similar OS's) from the ground up, but must do so without
the benefit of an "in-the-flesh" mentor who can look over my shoulder
(that's where you all come in :-) ).

Thank you again for your time and patience.

Shawn
