I followed your instructions re: dd successfully and then located the
fdvol on the cd and on Al's ftp site (it was everywhere! must need
glasses) I then proceeded to make a set via fdvol (just for the
practice) 

I am now the proud owner of 2 sets of install disks. Now the only
question is which machine to instal on. (I have a collection of
everything from a Timex-Sinclair up to a PII). I will probably use an
HP-i486 with 8Meg ram and a 450Meg hd. Likely to be a little overkill,
but shouldn't give me the problems of one of the older models. Later I
will give them a go.
