I'm not using a driver; I wanted to do this in user space. I have since
studied the readclock command source, and it appears that after opening
/dev/mem you can do IO operations without the Memory Fault. Why this is
so, I don't know. Does anyone know where I can find out more about memory
protection in minix?

In any case, I wouldn't mind looking at the plip code. I might learn
something. Is there somewhere I can ftp it from?

Thanks
Ivan
