The strange thing is, the error message is coming from the main code of
the boot monitor.  The bootstrap in floppy's boot sector would only
print "Read error".

This means that the bootstrap has done several multisector reads to get
the monitor into memory.  When run next the monitor copies itself to
the end of the XT's memory and tries to load the "boot parameters" from
the second sector of the floppy.  That last read fails...
