what you're failing to realize is that your ram disc is being loaded
from your hd partition. (probably hd1a)  any changes you're making to
the ram disk are not being made to the partition the ram disk is being
loaded from ... :)  whenever you make changes to your ram disk do the
following:

	1) mount your ramimage partition (usually to /mnt)
	2) copy the changes to /mnt
	3) unmount the ramimage partition

this should take care of your changes not being updated between
reboots
