I'm not that familiar with Minix, but perhaps when you were setting it 
up, it asked for a drive to mount /usr, and you should not have answered 
unless you have more than one hard drive.  Look for a "mount /dev/hda1 /usr" 
command in /etc/rc, and if you find it, delete that line and reboot.
