I've heard this stated a number of times in c.o.m. but oddly,
I havent found it substantiated on my machine :)

Running a PS/2 model 50, a 10mhz 286 with minix in Real mode,
(i dont have the exact numbers with me handy, but i'm pretty sure
it was in this ballpark)

I was able to make a pretty solid connection to my linux box at 19200
for terminal, and sz consistently gaev me speeds up to 1800 cps.
Kermit with 1k packets, was rather slower, I seem to recall...
maybe 900-1000 cps (about par for 9600 id think)

I *may* have zmodem and kermit swapped here, but im pretty
certain that i was getting better than 14.4 speed :)

[note, this is kermit with extended packets, NOT the default
which is 94 bytes or less :)

I will check this out to verify later, if you're interested,
I'm not really running minix much these days
(still waiting for the PS/2 hd driver to be fixed :)
life in real mode, sortof sucks.

please tell me its due for 1.7.1!

by the way, i *think* the ps/2 uses an 8250 chip;
it could be 16450, but i havent found documentation
and different test software gives different results.

(do we have an ETA on 1.7.1 yet anyway? :)
