i couldnt tell you for certain, but i doubt it, a lot. :)

fooling a 286 into running OS/2 2.1 software
(as opposed to os/2 1.0? which one did you have in mind?)
in a multitasking kernel is a bigger project than AST has
planned at the moment. Maybe minix 2.0? :)

: - is there a DOS emulation for minix, so that I can run DOS programs ?

well, the 286 doesnt really have a virtual 8086 mode

so, multitasking full dos sessions is going to be problematic,
no matter what OS you use.

: some kind of multitasking, given by minix ).

if you want to *task*switch* between msdos sessions, MS Windows 3.1
or 3.0 might be a good deal. Windows 2.0 (smoother, less overhead on a 286)
might be an even better deal if you can find it.

Avoid 3.11, NT and Lose95.6 like the plague. :)

if you really want to multitask DOS apps on a 286,
quarterdeck's desqview, is really the only way to go.
however, it wont leave you much memory for your apps.

unfortunately, these are all commercial programs :(

better plan:
find/hack/write a fortran compiler for minix,
and dump macrosloth for good. :)
