Message-ID: Date: Tue, 21 Feb 95 20:20:53 -0500 Sender: news@stat.com Organization: Delphi (info@delphi.com email, 800-695-4005 voice) Approved: rec-radio-info@stat.com Lines: 35 This Week in Amateur Radio Celebrates Edition #100 "This Week in Amateur Radio", North America's satellite-delivered amateur radio news and information service, celebrates its 2nd Anniversary this Saturday, February 25th, at 7:30 PM EST, with the airing of Edition #100. Along with the program's regular weekly features, host Stephan Anderman, WA3RKB, will anchor numerous live telephone call-in segments throughout the program. Calls will be accepted at 518/664-6809 to discuss amateur radio topics such as the new vanity call sign program; new amateur frequency allocation activity at 219, 902, and 2400 MHz; FCC reorganization and regulatory activities; or whatever comes to mind. Originally known as "Amateur Radio Weekly" and first carried on the Spacenet III commercial satellite from southern California, production of the program moved to central New York in February 1993 when it was renamed "This Week in Amateur Radio". It was taken over the following month by the current production group and went on the air with a new, expanded format from the Albany, New York area on March 7th, 1993. The show went on a four-week hiatus during December 1993 in a transition from S3's "Let's Talk Radio Network" to the Galaxy III satellite and the new "Omega Radio Network", which features communications hobby programming. "Omega" and "This Week" moved to AT&T's Telstar 302, transponder 21 (11V), 5.8 MHz audio (4.120 GHz) earlier this month. T302 is located at 85 degrees west longitude in geosynchronous orbit. "This Week in Amateur Radio" is produced by Community Video Associates, Inc., a New York not-for-profit corporation, and heard on nearly 100 amateur VHF/UHF repeaters throughout the United States and Canada, as well as nightly on the Gateway 160 Meter Net, WA0RCR, at 1860 kHz. Production, transmission, and maintenance expenses are underwritten entirely by contributions from the amateur community and program affiliates.
