MONITOR RADIO LAUNCHES MID-DAY NEWS PROGRAM

Boston, MA - On September 1, Monitor Radio, the broadcast edition of The
Christian Science Monitor, adds Mid-Day Edition to its line-up. The program is
intended to bridge the gap between morning and evening news broadcasts with
comprehensive, thoughtful reporting and analysis from correspondents around the
globe.

For the first time, public radio listeners will have a full hour of up-to-date
news and information in the middle of the day. The Mid-Day Edition, comprised of
interviews, features, roundtable discussions, live reports and commentaries will
be anchored by David Brown, Monitor Radio's Daily Edition Host.

Brown has worked in public and commercial radio as a reporter, producer, and
anchor for more than 13 years. He served as National News Producer for CNN
before becoming one of the first producers for Monitor Radio's Daily Edition in
1985. From 1990 to 1991, David was Executive Producer of CALNET,
California's Public Radio News Network. In addition to his role as a producer,
David served as Monitor Radio's National Correspondent, European Correspondent,
and as Washington Bureau Chief.

locations around the globe, live q&a's with newsmakers of the day, plus round-
table discussions with such noted observers as: Steve Roberts, from U.S. News,
Haynes Johnson,(aUphor and former Washington Post columnist, Martin Walker of
The Guardian of London and Alain Frachon from Le Monde. Additional
distinguished contributors include Elizabeth Drew, formerly of The New Yorker,
and reports from John Palmer, Monitor Radio's White House correspondent.

"It's an effort to help stations regain listeners who are getting their news
from other stations at mid-day," said Monitor Radio executive producer Dave
Creagh. "We're very excited about filling this gap in public radio news
programming."

Monitor Radio is the 24-hour broadcast edition of The Christian Science Monitor,
and is distributed to more than 200 Public Radio International affiliates
throughout the U.S.. Monitor Radio programs reach millions of listeners around
the world via the Monitor's own powerful shortwave network. In addition to the
