                     SUMMARY OF ACTIVITY

December 3
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was mostly unsettled, with
brief minor storm periods 00-03UT. 
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 15-30% depressed
00-08UT and 16-18UT, 15-20% enhanced 11-14UT and
from 20UT onwards, with sporadic E obscuring the F layer 02-03UT. 

December 4
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to unsettled
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 15-30% enhanced
until 11UT and near normal thereafter.

December 5
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to unsettled
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were near predicted
monthly values

December 6
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were near predicted
monthly values

The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was initially quiet until
12UT, active to unsettled thereafter.
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were near normal, apart
from 15-20% enhanced 17-20UT, with sporadic E
obscuring the F layer at 10 & 21UT.

December 8
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was at minor storm levels
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were about 15% above
predicted monthly values

December 9
Solar activity was very low.
The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet
Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were near predicted
monthly values

Comment:
The geomagnetic storm on the 8th Dec was unexpected and its
cause is unknown.

     FORECAST FOR THE NEXT WEEK (10 - 16 DECEMBER)

SOLAR:        low

GEOMAGNETIC:  quiet to unsettled 10-14 Dec, unsettled to active
              15-16 Dec.

IONOSPHERIC:  near normal 10-15 Dec, 20% depressed 16 Dec
