Don't forget the Gosford Field Day in Febru- ary next year; the State Coordinator would like to see as many bodies as possible helping out on the WICEN stand, so if you can spare a few hours to appear in uniform it would be appreciated. WICEN Blue Mountains advise that they conduct regular quarterly meetings, and the next such meeting is Monday 6th December. The Blue Mountains region meets on the first monday of every quarter, at the Glenbrook Bushfire Brigade, starting at 7pm. There is a talk-in on channel 7050; this is usually a repeater, but may occasionally be simplex. The Co-ordinator, Alan VK2YYJ, will be pleased to welcome all visitors. Don't forget that the Technology Day at Rutherford High School is all set to go for Tuesday 30th November, and Frank VK2XVJ, the Hunter Coalfields local Co-ordinator, is running this event. Hunter WICEN is grateful to the NSW Division of the WIA for supplying pamphlets to be distributed to the students, and also to the Australian Amateur Television Club (AATC) who will be providing ATV coverage from one side of the school to the other. The Newcastle Morsecodians will also have all their equipment oscillating for the benefit of possible future amateurs. On display and working will be HF voice, VHF voice, VHF packet and UHF voice. The day is going to be very big, with fifty technical displays from various organisations such as GMH, ANSTO and CSIRO, to name just a few. There will also be four Government ministers in attendance, with the Guest Speaker for the day being the well known Scientist and Author Karl Kruszelnicki. As usual Hunter WICEN will be there flying the flag. Next month, there is the Narrabeen Festival on the 4th-5th Decem- ber, run by Richard VK2SKY. Richard will require about four to five people that weekend, for about a half-day each, and he can be contacted at work on (02) 807-0607, or at home on (02) 971- 4431. The usual Committee meeting next month will be on Sunday 12th December, and it will be a bring-your-own-everything pic- nic/BBQ; all are invited, but please contact the Committee if you are interested in attending. Further details will be advised next week. Please note that the first Committee meeting next year will be on 12th February, 1994. WICEN is always looking for members to provide the community with communications assistance when required. Write to WICEN (NSW) Inc, PO Box 123, St Leonards 2065; or come up on the regular Sydney WICEN net, on Thursday nights at 9.30pm on repeater 7150. Other regular nets are Central Coast every Thursday at 8.30pm on the portable WICEN repeater 7125; and Blue Mountains on the first Monday of each month at 7pm on channel 7175 simplex, when this does not co-incide with their quarterly meetings. If members are interested in re-activating the State-wide HF net then the Execu- tive Committee would be pleased to hear about it. -- Dave VK2KFU, WICEN (NSW) Inc.
