The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet until 0600UT, then unsettled to active. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 10 to 30% below predicted monthly values. September 4 Solar activity was low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to active. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 10 to 40% below predicted monthly values with some spread F at night. September 5 Solar activity was very low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet to unsettled, with an active period from 14-15UT. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 15 to 30% below predicted monthly values, with strong spread F for most of the night. September 6 Solar activity was very low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 5 to 30% below predicted monthly values, with some spread F at night. .SK September 7 Solar activity was very low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 5 to 25% below predicted monthly values, with some spread F at night. September 8 Solar activity was very low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 10 to 30% below predicted monthly values. September 9 Solar activity was very low. The geomagnetic field at Learmonth (WA) was quiet. Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies at Sydney were 10 to 30% depressed 00-02UT, 07-15UT, and from 19UT onwards, and otherwise near predicted. Critical frequencies at Sydney have been regularly depressed this month relative to monthly predicted values. This has been due to the monthly predictions being too high, rather than to the occurrence of ionospheric activity. FORECAST FOR THE NEXT WEEK (10 - 16 SEPTEMBER) SOLAR: Very low. GEOMAGNETIC: Active to minor storm levels from either late on the 11th or early on the 12th, through until the 14th. Quiet levels are expected at other times. IONOSPHERIC: 30 to 60% below predicted monthly values 13-14 September, and 10 to 30% below predicted monthly values at other times. -- Dave Horsfall (VK2KFU) VK2KFU @ VK2RWI.NSW.AUS.OC PGP 2.3 dave@esi.COM.AU ...munnari!esi.COM.AU!dave available
