---------------------------------------------------------------------- EURONEWS 2.6.1992 - Edited by Risto Kotalampi, rko@cs.tut.fi ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NEW COUNTRIES: Bosnia-Hercegovina and Macedonia. BYELORUSSIA: Radio Minsk German service is now on Wednesdays and Saturdays only at 1930-2000. On Sundays a Swiss origin religious program in German at the same time: "Die Antwort", Postfach 767, CH-1701 Freiburg, Switzerland. WWH via SWN via ARC CROATIA: Croatian Radio, Studio Zagreb has been heard at 1159 on a new frequency of 21480 kHz. A summary of news in English was broadcast between 1203 and 1207. Richard Langley via SCDX 1602 Radio Buje is heard. Horst Rauch via Play-DX CZECHOSLOVAKIA: On 1521 there will be a new transmitter in Liberec going on the air with the program CS (Ceskoslovensko). BE via ARC ESTONIA: Here is the recent schedule for ER-4 (Eesti Raadio's Russian program on 1512/1566 & FM): Mon-Fri 0400-0700, 1000-1200 & 1600-1630 (Fri, irr.1700). Sat: 0600-0900 & 1100-1600, incl.1400-1500 in Ukrainian (produced in Kijiv) and 1500-1600 in Belarus (produced in Minsk). Sun 0600-1500. The above programs are produced by Eesti Raadio. In addition there are daily satellite relays of Radio Liberty (1700-1800) and VOA (2100-2200), both in Russian. Between all these programs there is a relay of Majak from Moscow. BT via ARC Current situation in the country: 612 ER-4 + R Rossii, 1512 ER-3 (Stereoraadio); 1566 is carrying Russian programs. GERMANY: Since April 13th, the country prefix +49 is valid for telephone numbers in both parts of Germany. However, the digit "3" has to be added to all East German area codes except for Berlin. Thus, to call Sachsenradio in Leipzig, now use +49 341 511 51 (formerly: +37 41 511 51). As for Berlin, the area code (30) is now valid for both the western and eastern parts. BT via ARC GREECE: ERT Kozani is heard on split frequency of 1600 kHz, closing at 2200. SGN via FQN ICELAND: The bad luck with the Vatnsendi 206 LW transmitter continues. Its 150 meter high mast from 1930 collapsed on February 3, 1990. A temporary antenna (T-shape type with 2 x 70 meter high masts) was installed last autumn and the transmitter was back on the air on October 31, 1991. But on March 9, 1992 a fire reached the powersupply building and totally destroyed it. It is uncertain when the transmitter can be back on the air again. It should be noted that the WRTH92 gives a wrong power for this transmitter (like in previous years). For at least 10 years this transmitter was run with only 50 kW ERP (instead of 100 kW) due to the bad conditions of the old antenna facilities. BT via ARC IRELAND: RTE is to sell part of its 50% stake in the longwave pop station Atlantic 252, with UK concert promoter Harvey Goldsmith's Allied Entertainment being the likely buyer. CLT, owners of R Luxembourg, are to maintain their 50% stake. Broadcast via DK via BDXC via ARC Dublin's three universities have joined forces to apply for the "special interest" broadcasting licence in the city. Dario Monferini via Play-DX LATVIA: The MW+SW-transmitters in Riga are located at Ulbroka, some few kilometers off the city limits in the eastern direction. Since Latvian Radio 2 is broadcast on 945 kHz (instead of Majak), the 1071 kHz relay in Riga has been stopped. BT via ARC LITHUANIA: Radiocentras started on 1485 kHz in Vilnius with a 2.5kW transmitter on May 1st. The schedule is 0800-2400 local time. On Mondays there is an English DJ show at 2200-2400 local time. Radiocentras is now also on FM 101.0 MHz (0.4 kW) in Vilnius where it broadcasts 24 hours/day. A Second MW transmitter is under construction. It will be in Kaunas on 1458 kHz with 10 kW and it will have the same schedule as Vilnius MW. Radiocentras is considering installing MW transmitters (low power) also in Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys, but a lot of problems have to be solved first, like coordinating frequencies and renting a micro-link line. (Well, those own AM-frequencies seems to be worth of own point if they really are owned and operated by Radiocentras./RKO) BT via ARC Radiocentras v/s is Sigitas Zilionis. MTM Vilnius 612 is continuing to relay Majak from Moscow, despite some earlier announcements, since the Russian government has guaranteed a continuation of payment for the transmitter rent. BT via ARC Correcting a news about Lithuania: Only Radiocentras could be heard on MW (1107+1134) where it was broadcasting under the name "Studija Radio" as part of the 2nd program of Lithuanian Radio. Since March 1st, these relays have been replaced by own programs of the Lithuanian Radio and Radiocentras can be heard on FM now. BT via ARC R Vilnius announced that as of May 4th, they would be in English 2130-2200 on 666, 9675 and 9710; 2300-2330 on 11780 13645 and 15580. They have also been heard on 10344USB presumably feeding their programmes to Far East transmitter sites. MB via Contact Radio Vilnius gave up the use of a transmitter in Ukraine which would cost them 1.5 million roubles a year for rent. They used for the March-May period transmitters in Krasnodar on 9530, Moldova on 11860, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on 17605, Khabarovsk on 17690.
