Planetary Data

(P) Ekill:
Ekill, 11 X 22 sectors, has an atmosphere of nitrogen/oxygen/other, a temperature
of -30 to -5 degrees Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .4 G.
Even though Ekill is smaller than its moon, Killer, Ekill is considered the world
due to the fact that Killer is obviously orbiting Ekill. The atmosphere is
composed of nitrogen/oxygen, which would normally be breathable, however there
appears to be an unknown hydrocarbon compound also in the atmosphere.

  (M) Killer: Colonies - AFT Oath of Fealty
Killer, 17 X 34 sectors, has no atmosphere, a temperature of -10 to 10 degrees
  Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .5 G.
Killer is a large moon with no atmosphere. There are indications of geothermal
activity that maintains the moon's temperature at a relatively constant level.

(P) Harlop: Colonies -	GTT Chronicles, SMS Picadilly
Harlop, 13 X 26 sectors, has no atmosphere, a temperature of -110 to -10 degrees
Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .8 G.
Harlop is a medium size world with no atmosphere. The entire surface of the planet
is blackened. There are no moons orbiting Harlop.

(G) Huey:
Huey is a gas giant of immense proportions. The outer layers of the atmosphere
extend beyond the orbit of the two moons, Morton and Peve.

  (M) Morton:
  Morton, 2 X 3 sectors, has an atmosphere of oxygen/nitrogen (breathable), a
temperature of -20 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit, and a gravity of -.3 G.
Morton is the larger of the two moons orbiting Huey. There appear to be areas
of free standing liquid on the moons surface.

  (M) Peve:
  Peve, 1 X 2 sectors, has an atmosphere of oxygen/nitrogen (breathable), a
temperature of -35 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and a gravity of -.4 G.
Peve is the smaller of the two moons orbiting Huey. There appear to be areas
of free standing liquid on the moons surface.

(P) Irly:
Irly, 9 X 18 sectors, has an atmosphere of methane/nitrogen, a temperature of 0
degrees Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .7 G.
Irly has an atmosphere of methane/nitrogen and maintains a constant temperature
of 0 degrees. The land masses are all a dark black in color. There is one moon, Gorx.

  (M) Gorx:
Gorx, 5 X 7 sectors, has no atmosphere, a temperature of -340 to -310 degrees
  Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .8 G.
Gorx is a small moon with no atmosphere. The world appears to have been burnt
  to a cinder.

(G) Marianus:
Marianus is an extremely dense gas giant. The atmosphere appears to be liquid rather
than gaseous. The planet has one moon, Joeson.

  (M) Joeson:
Joeson, 4 X 8 sectors, has no atmosphere, a temperature of -205 to -120 degrees
  Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .5 G.
Joeson is a small blackened moon with no atmosphere. There are small areas where
a white substance is showing through.

(A) Sunray: Colonies -	PDC Purgatory
Sunray is all rough terrain with one crater.

(P) Udono:
Udono, 22 X 44 sectors, has a methyl-cinnamic acid atmosphere, a temperature of 600
to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit, and a gravity of .7 G.
Udono is a medium size world with a temperature averaging over 1000 degrees. The
reasoning behind the location of such a hot world so far from the sun eludes you.
Udono has no moons.

Additional Information

System
Although the size of the sun appears to be large it is in reality not much larger than
normal of unusual in any way. Tests have revealed that the sun is currently stable and
appears that it will not suffer "nova" for several hundred thousand years. In addition
tests have revealed that the star Tesni never has gone "nova" at any time in its past
and doesn't account for the many blackened planets in this system. Two theories have
been proposed to account for the blackened condition of many of the planets. It is
known that Tesni used to be a Samillian controlled system. The first theory states
that in their wars with the Snittians, a major battleground was the Tesni system.
Devices on the snits maybe capable of doing such damage to entire planets, or at
least igniting the atmosphere, which would do the same. Another and more widely held
theory is that the Samillians were doing some experiments with directly harnessing
the energy of the sun, and they harnessed a bit too much. This is supported by the
artifact found on Harlop.

Ekill
Ekill Atmosphere Analysis: The unknown hydrocarbon found in the atmosphere of Ekill
is composed of an odd sugar like compound. The hydrocarbon seems to spontaneously form
an unusual chain like structure. It appears to have no obvious harmful properties but
the long term effects of exposure to it has yet to be determined.

The hydrocarbon in Ekill's atmosphere was found to be and odd sugar-like compound.
The hydrocarbon seems to spontaneously form and unusual chain like structure. It
appears to have no obvious short term effects, however, long term exposure leads to
metabolization of the hydrocarbon. When laboratory animals were removed from exposure
to the hydrocarbon, they experienced death. It is hypothesized that should a human be
exposed to the atmosphere of Ekill for any great length of time, he would be unable to
leave the planet.

Tides of Ekill: The sea of Ekill should be subject to some very massive tides due
to the size differential between Ekill and its moon Killer. However, the tides are
very minor, although this is yet unexplained.

20 tu's were spent on both Ekill and Killer looking for evidence of irregular gravity
to justify the fact that the larger body, Killer, orbits the smaller body, Ekill; no
result was obtained.

Harlop
Harlop Core Sample Analysis: The surface of Harlop is covered by a 70 foot thick
charred crust. This layer appears to have been exposed to extremely high temperatures
for an undetermined length of time. Located below this charred section are some
indications of Harlop's previous life forms. You found fossilized remains of various
small "shellfish" indicating that this portion of the planet may have been an ocean.
No other extraordinary facts are noted.

Sector Scan at 5-26: craterous with a flat area in lower left of sector, approximately
3 squares long.

Core Sample Results at 3-2: The core samples of this area of Harlop was subjected to
an isolated application of intense heat. An area of melted rock is found just a few
feet below the surface. Below this fused layer fragments of large insectoid like
creatures are located. There appears to be no sign of any structures of signs of
civilization. [The insectoids are apparently Samillian or Kazereckii, probably Samillian.]

Excavation of site where insect remains were found: GP got the impression that the
insectoids may have at one time covered (and were inside) much of the planet. The
deeper the excavation went, the more insect remains were found. Tunnels were found
underneath the surface, many of which led further downward. A large cavern was discovered
approximately 10 miles below the surface, and it is 5 miles in diameter. Many side
branching tunnels exited this cavern. Many dead insects were found, in varying stages
of development. The walls of the cavern were honeycombed like a bee's nest. One
hypothesis is a lava flow entered the tunnels and destroyed the nest.

The alien race appears to have a 4 stage life cycle: egg, pupa, larva, adult. Eggs
were found in the wax like honeycomb filler. This was apparently rich in alien
nutrients, but it does not appear to be nutritious to humans. Many insectoids were
found to have died attempting to carry eggs to safety. A second cavern was found
with thousands of insect bodies, and even more exit tunnels. In the center of this
tunnel was a large (50 mu) crusted, almost spherical object.

This object is in fact an egg of a viable life form, and with the proper conditions
could be hatched. The insect inside appeared to be 40 mu's in size. It is speculated
that the insect inside is a queen. Negotiations are currently underway with the SAM
to hatch and turn the queen over to them.

Alien Artifact: The artifact that you excavated is 400 mu's in size. It is slightly
oblong in shape and one end of it is covered with 3 inch diameter holes. The object
is composed of a metal/nonmetal core covered by a thorlium coating. Your instruments
indicate that the device is hollow and that there is some kind of access port at the
front.

Harlop Artifact: Study of the Harlop artifact indicates that the device was a chemical
dispersion unit. It most likely was launched from orbit and after it entered the
atmosphere released its chemical cargo. There is an access hatch in the front that
was used to "fill" the device. Tests indicate that if the device is filled with
anything and released from orbit it will function as mentioned above.

Harlop Artifact Residue: Study of the residue detected in the Harlop device fails to
arrive at any conclusive results. The residue was some form of an organic catalyst that
was able to trigger the ignition of Harlop's atmosphere. No additional facts were learned.

The residues of this substance were analyzed and were found to have traces of an unknown
other ore in them. If samples of this other ore are brought to Secudus for further
analysis, and possibly duplication of the substance could be achieved.

The life forms do not appear to be related to the dangerous protolife on Ekill, however,
it is not certain that the protolife would leave fossilized remains. Samples of the
fossilized "shellfish" were examined by a ship biolab, sickbay and small projects lab.
They were determined to be an alien (not earth-like) carbon based lifeform, about 1.5
million years in age. Samples of the fossils were place in a variety of growth mediums,
but none revived (nor did anything which might be attached, such as bacteria or viruses).

The terrain appears uniformly featureless composed mainly of craters. However, a flat
area was discovered at sector 3-2. No results were gathered from infrared, ultrasound
and radiation scans.

The craters appear, in size, similar to craters found on Earth's moon. Most appear to
be impact craters, about 100,000 years old. They postdate the "charring effect". Harlop
may have had an atmosphere at one time, but the charring removed it making it open for
meteor impacts. Landing in craters is moderately dangerous. Landing can safely made
by doubling the number of tu's.

The "charring" effect appears to be the result of the ignition of the atmosphere and the
pattern of the charring effect started at the South Pole (1- 13) and moved to the north.

The surface of Harlop is evenly blackened. 65 tu's were spent looking for perfect circle
craters. None were found. The "charring" effect varies from a depth of 20 feet to a
depth of 70 feet. At sector 1-13, core samples were taken and the charring effect at
this location was about 140 feet. This is consistent with this location being the ignition
point of the disaster. Further analysis showed a "metallic" sphere buried about 700 feet
under the surface.

Some data suggests that Harlop has suffered other disasters - possibly localized - besides
the atmosphere loss. The second set of disasters appears to have occurred 20-50 years
previous to the human entrance into the periphery.

Exploration has determined that Harlop's atmosphere prior to the "firestorm" was probably
composed of a mixture of methane/oxygen/nitrogen.

Excavation of the alien device required 1000 AP's.

Joeson
Sector scan of 1-1: rough terrain which is all black, with an unusually shaped white spot
that covers parts of squares 4C,4D,5B,5C,5D,6B,6C,6D,7B,7C,8B.

Morton/Huey/Peve
Negative gravity: The two moons around the gas giant Huey are actually within the upper
reaches of the gas giant's atmosphere. The angular velocity around the planet maintains
the moons in a slowly decaying orbit. The friction of the moons' passing through the
atmosphere and the gravitation pull of the gas giant itself causes any untethered objects
to float away toward the gas giant below.

Peve/Morton Ray: While investigating the bubbles rising to the liquid's surface, one of
your men locates the source. It appears that the bubbles are originating from a small
lifeform living on the bottom. The P/M ray is 1 foot in diameter and 2 inches thick.
It anchors itself to the ground by means of string like organs. The P/M ray appears to
feed on microscopic organisms.

Peve Peve's Puddle: About 80% of the surface of the moon Peve is a shallow liquid similar
in molecular structure to water. This liquid appears to cling to the moons surface due to
electromagnetic interactions. Small bubbles can be seen rising to the surface.

Udono
Udono Surface Exploration: The unusual atmosphere of Udono is extremely chemically reactive.
It appears to be constantly reacting with the land creating unusually high surface temperatures.
The atmosphere does not appear to be reactive to the metals/nonmetals normally found in ship
hulls. Other materials would have to be tested.

Udono Surface Analysis: Additional testing and observations of the chemicals and elements
involved in the unusual chemical reactions reveal that metals/nonmetals are the only elements
not reactive with the atmosphere. The origin of the atmosphere is unknown, but it appears to
that it was not natural. Preliminary tests indicate that seismic activity exposes new materials
to the atmosphere continuing the reaction. Otherwise the surface would appear charred.

The surface appears to be of uniform temperature with a very high IR signature. The surface
appears to be molten.

A ship could possibly land safely if the molten areas were not too deep. If you want to
determine how to protect crawlers and the like, you would have to perform tests.

Seismic activity is natural with a long history (hundreds of thousands of years). The
activity is random and infrequent and goes deep to the underlying plates. No radiation
detected. No signs of present or previous intelligent life. Ultrasound tests and core
sampling reveal nothing more.
