Procedure

• 먼저 다른 시스템을 설치한다. 만약 드라이브에 새로 파티션을 해야한다면 : 1024 실린 더 경계의 아래에 Linux 부트파티션이 위치해야 한다는 것을 유의해야한다. 일반적으로 Linux 루트 파티션은 첫 번째 파티션에 위치한다. 그러나 1024 실린더 밑에 충분한 공간 이 있지 않을 경우에는 이 파티션에 충분한 몇 메가바이트 정도를 잡는다. 이것들은 /boot 안에 포함시킨다. (Linux 파티션 공간 요구의 일반적인 권장사항은 (mb_4.html) 에서 찾을 수 있다.)

• Linux를 설치한다. Linux의 부트파티션을 생성한다. 마운트 포인트를 결정할 때 파티션 의 크기에 따라 /(루트 파티션) 나 /boot만을 사용한다.

• Linux 부트 파티션이 /boot에 마운트 되었다면 : 설치가 끝나고 부팅할 때 (보통 새로운 시스템에 vmlinuz가 있을 때) /boot로 커널을 복사한다.

  LILO를 MBR로 설치할 준비를 하라 : /etc/lilo.conf를 생성하라. 물론 파티션과 커널의 이름을 받아들여야 한다. 설명을 읽으라 !

  하나 이상의 커널이나 더 나은 시스템을 사용하고 싶다면, 물론 sections을 더할수도, 더 많은 부트 파티션을 파일 끝에다가 만들 수 있다. 부팅 할 때 LILO 부트 프롬프트에서 특별한 입력이 없으면 가장 위의 기본시스템이 부팅된다는 사실을 기억하라 ! 필요하다면 다른 시 스템으로 재설정이 가능하다.

• LILO를 MBR로 설치한다.

         # /sbin/lilo
  

• 부팅 디스크를 만든다. 마이크로소프트 제품은 꽤 뛰어날 수 있기 때문에. DOS나 Windows NT 설치시에 MBR이 덮어씌어질 수도 있다. 그 런것들은 Linux에 접근하는 것을 불가능하게 한다. 만약 그렇게 된다면 반드시 Linux 부팅디스크로 부팅해서 LILO를 재설치해야 할 것이다.
