root!
A widely extended mail-reader is e.g. ELM. Start it at the
shell prompt by elm. During the first start a question of
whether some files and directories should be created will be placed to you.
Answer yes to these questions:
lxtest@Goedel:/home/lxtest > elm Notice: This version of ELM requires the use of a .elm directory in your home directory to store your elmrc and alias files. Shall I create the directory .elm for you and set it up (y/n/q)? Yes. Great! I'll do it now. Copying from: /home/lxtest/.elmrc Copying to: /home/lxtest/.elm/elmrc Welcome to the new version of ELM! Hit return to continue.Your mails are saved in
~/Mail and your ELM configuration in
~/elm.
Another mail reader is PINE (Pine Is No longer Elm). It
stores its mails in another format. The decission is up to you.
