Procedure:

• Edit the file /etc/modules.conf as root with your favourite editor (e.g. 'vi').
  1. Look the line up, in which is located

             # options bttv    pll=1 radio=0 card=0
           

  2. Remove the comment symbol '#' at the start of the line
  3. If your card is not detected automatically, enter the type of card instead of 'card=0' (according to the following table):

             0 - AutoDetect
             1 - MIRO PCTV
             2 - Hauppauge old
             3 - ST
             4 - Intel
             5 - Diamond DTV2000
             6 - AVerMedia TVPhone
             7 - MATRIX-Vision MV-Delta
             8 - Fly Video II
             9 - TurboTV
             10 - Hauppauge new (bt878)
             11 - MIRO PCTV pro

  4. If your card has a radio-tuner, please set 'radio=1'
  5. Please look up the line:

             # options tuner   type=0
           

     and enter the type of your tuner-chip. (e.g 'type=0' for Temic PAL)

             0 - Temic PAL
             1 - Philips PAL_I
             2 - Philips NTSC
             3 - Philips SECAM
             4 - NoTuner
             5 - Philips PAL
             6 - Temic NTSC
             7 - Temic PAL_I

  6. Remove the comment symbol before the line

             # post-install bttv /sbin/modprobe "-k" tuner; \
           

     if you do not have stereo sound support, remove also the characters '; \'
  7. If your TV card has stereo sound support, please remove the comment symbol '#' before the following lines:

             # options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
             #                   /sbin/modprobe "-k" msp3400
           

  8. Save the file.
• Now start the program kwintv. If you hear a noise, you almost already created it. The program kwintv must find only the correct channels. In addition you can execute a channel scan. Select Scan from the Program menu and select you your type of television picture (in Europe PAL). Now the channels can be looked up with Scan.
