PCMCIA: The Insertion and Removal of PC Cards Is Not Recognized

Symptom:

The card manager does not recognize the insertion or removal of PC Cards (formerly PCMCIA cards).

Cause:

The PC Card controller (formerly PCMCIA) is inactive after the initialization (suspend mode).

Solution:

Scan the port every second. Add the entry 

PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS="poll_interval=100"
to /etc/rc.config (/etc/rc.config.d/pcmcia.rc.config for version 7.3 or /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia from 8.0 on).
