Barry Leiner is a Senior Scientist with Universities Space Research Association (USRA), where he is providing technical support to the Federal High Performance Computing and Communications Program. During his tenure at DARPA from 1980 to 1985, he was responsible for a variety of programs in networking including the Internet research program. Since that time, he has been particularly interested in network support of scientific collaboration (e.g. telescience, collaboratory). He is currently focussed on the use of the network to support software exchange and reuse. He has been on the IAB since its inception and serves as its representative to the Coordinating Committee for Intercontinental Research Networks. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
