The broadcasts, consisting of four 15-minute programs in various Central and Eastern European languages, are at 2030-2130 daily. (BBCMS via SCDX) BOSNIA-HERCEGOVINA: While Radio Bosnia Hercegovina Studio Sarajevo has disappeared from medium wave 612 kHz, it continues to be heard on shortwave on around 7238 khz in upper side band. This is apparently an amateur radio transmitter. (BBCMS via SCDX) BULGARIA: 774 Varna will have a new 150 kW transmitter in 1993. ITALY: European Christian Radio has moved to 6220 kHz to avoid interference from Hrvatski Radio on 6230 kHz. (VJR) LITHUANIA: Baltic Radio International will use this frequency beamed to Scandinavia. The programs will be in English and power 200 kW peaked to Oslo. The Swedish Telecom has informed the Lithuanian authorities that they will not use 981 kHz anymore. (BT via BE via ARC) 1458 & 1485 Radiocentras will start to broadcast in English and Swedish in the near future. (BT via BE via ARC) LUXEMBURG: Radio Luxembourg's English Service is to close down at the end of the year. According to John Catlett, General Manager of the English service, keeping the station going is no longer economic. Instead, owners CLT will be concentrating on Irish station Atlantic 252 in which they have an 80 percent stake. Luxembourg closed its AM service earlier in the year, but has continued to be broadcast on satellite. However, like most of the other commercial satellite radio stations, it has been unable to attract sufficient advertisers and sponsors for the service. The very last programme will go out on December 31st, just a few weeks after its 59th birthday. Atlantic 252, which currently broadcasts on Long Wave to most of the British Isles, may replace Luxembourg on satellite. (BDXC via MWC via ARC) RUSSIA: A radio station in Russian calling itself Radio Art has been heard at 0515-0700 on 11655 kHz. The station also announces it broadcasts in Moscow on 104.2 MHz. (BBCMS via SCDX) Radio Moscow International's Spanish service to Latin America now carries a religious program called "La Voz de Salvacion" on Tuesdays at 0310-0325. The program is produced by the Church of God of the Prophecy (La Iglesia del Dio del la Profesia). (BBCMS via SCDX) On November 2nd a station relaying the satellite programs of Deutsche Welle in various languages began operating in Moscow on 702 kHz. (Voice of Russia via BBCMS via SCDX) Religious programs from American evangelist Dr. Gene Scott have been heard on 21845 kHz from a transmitter which antenna bearings indicate is in Russia. The broadcast has been heard from 0630 to 0800, when the transmitter appears to switch to Radio Moscow's World Service in English. Gene Scott programming (not the same as on 21845 kHz) is also heard at the same time on 5920 kHz from WWCR in the United States, in parallel with 11530 khz from the Voice of Hope in Lebanon. (DX-News) BBC Radio Shropshire on 756 kHz is currently putting out a tape advising listeners to retune to FM or to 1584 kHz AM. Apparently 1584 is to remain on the air for some while yet, serving South Shropshire from Woofferton. (So, the station wasn't closed last spring, despite of the news circulating around.../RKO.) They were 1/4 power for a while due to transmitter problems, but are now fully restored. They offer their apologies for the delay in replying to reports, but QSL's are coming... Five new journalists have been recruited to work for the station, working from new studio facilities in Milton Keynes and Aylesbury.
