Official Galactic Transport and Trade (GTT) Profile

Affiliation #7

Imperial Chartered Affiliation

History
The GTT was formed in the year 27 by the flamboyant entrepeneur Lee I.
Prescott. By the year 41 the GTT had controlled one of four major colonies
located on Earth's moon, GTT Victoria. The ruler of GTT Victoria built his
population up to nearly 20,000 and in 47 discovered an unusual ore on
Luna. This turned out to be PULAC CRYSTALS and enabled the GTT to
develop the first crude JUMP ENGINE. The GTT patented the new technology
and became firmly established as the richest corporation in the Republic.

During the First Rebellion, the GTT supported the Empire with equipment.
Because of this, the GTT received the first Imperial Charter under the
Free Trade Convention. By the end of the year the GTT had a virtual
stranglehold on trade. The AFT was formed as a result. This new
affiliation took many of the GTT trade routes. Instead of fighting,
the GTT moved into the more lucrative role of supplier.

In year 180 Ruler Nasty Bugger built GTT Gaspree on Petroom in the
Newbian System. Ruler Bugger made a name for himself as one of the
most dispicable characters in the periphery. Soon thereafter, hostilities
broke out on Petroom between Ruler Bugger and the SMS colony Driscol.
Using air power, GTT Gaspree forced SMS Driscol to surrender. In 182
the SMS colony was destroyed by Gaspree.

In 181 the GTT contructed the first player-built colony, GTT Tortuga,
on Holly in the Casven System. Other colonies were quickly established
or wrested from older governors and the race to production began.

During the course of human exploration in the Periphery a strange cube
was discovered. It was transported to GTT Gaspree and held there in
storage. Imprisoned in the cube by an eldar race was an entity of great
power who was later dubbed the Water Demon. This creature seemed to
take over the minds of the colonists and caused much havoc at Gaspree.
This forced the governor to attack his own colony in order to retain
control. The Water Demon was later moved and placed under a cloak of
Mindshields to prevent his seizing any more humans. The number of
people who know his whereabouts are very few.

It was to be many years before the GTT learned the origin of the Water
Demon. In 189 an alien race known as the FOE came into the Periphery
demanding to have one of its citizens returned. The GTT was adamant
in its disapproval and the Imperials justly refused the Foelian demands
for the freedom of the Water Demon. It is GTT policy never to release
the Water Demon.

The FOE took the Imperial refusal in a typically Foelian way--they
unleashed a plague on the Periphery. It was many months before the GTT
could build enough hospitals to keep the plague in check. Their hatred
of the FOE grew. Thus began the GTT dislike of the entire Trans-Canally
Alliance.

Among the more renowned altercations between the GTT and the TCA was
between the DTR and Commodore Lang. Lang was one of the first explorers
into the deep Trans-Canally area. He explored out as far as the actual
DTR home system. He landed his Heavy Cruiser at their home colony and
negotiated with their high council. However, there was a war between
the IMP and the DTR. The Commodore figured he would have to sit it out
in a DTR prison. Instead, he was executed and his ship was seized. The
GTT was unable to gain satisfaction.

Another incident occurred at GTT Starport. The governor there persuaded
his colonist to leave the GTT and join the DTR without approval of the
GTT political players.

Other incidents occurred with TCA members. The MYR tried to destroy
the GTT stargate in the Newbian System, with the GTT forces unable to
gain any retribution.

Affiliation Description

In terms of material wealth the GTT is by far the richest affiliation in
known space. The possessions of one of the larger GTT colonies dwarfs
the size of entire affiliations. The major vanity of the GTT is to be
richer than anyone else. They would fight viciously to protect their
production edge. Unfortunately, the GTT has few warships.

The GTT is closely allied with the SSL due to their participation in the
Trans-Canally war.

Since the GTT in the Periphery is controlled by GTT HQ in the Inner Empire,
they have incredible loyalty to the Emperor. Some say this loyalty is
almost fanatical. The interests of the GTT lie hand-in-hand with the
Empire. As long as supporting the Empire remains profitable, the GTT
will continude to do so.

Goals

The GTT seeks to be a stabilizing force in the Periphery. They plan to
support the Empire and maintain its status quo because it is good for
business.

In the short term, the GTT would like to establish a sizable trade fleet,
increasing the overall quality of the GTT space fleet. This includes
seeing to it that every GTT player owns at least one Mega Hauler, or
larger vessel, within three months of joining.

They would also like to increase their production base and expand their
colonization efforts.

Special Abilities

1. Receive 20% more manhours from their colonists than other affiliations.

2. GTT REPAIRBOTS may repair twice as much material as normal.

3. May perform stargate movement for half the TU's of a normal affiliation.-

Political Structure

The GTT is largely controlled by the Periphery Director, currently the
governor of GTT Gaspree. He is assisted in decision making by Defense,
Exploration and Information Coordinators.
