Network Character Encodings Information file: network
===========================================================================

RFC-1521 (MIME) supports the ISO 8859 family of character encodings.

To allow reversible binary conversions between local character encodings
and those supported by RFC-1521, modified version of the original files
have been created. Some characters have been added or modified to allow
reversible conversion, so don't take these descriptions as gospel.
Instead, have a look at the original description files.

The files iso8859.* are implicit network encodings.

Converters created using these modified versions of the original
character encoding descriptions are very well suited for the use
in Usenet software and other network software.
