OPIE Software Distribution Directory Information ========================== ===================== This directory contains the One-Time Passwords In Everything (OPIE) software distribution. OPIE is downward-compatible with Bellcore's S/Key Version 1 software. OPIE is derived in part from the BSD Unix software developed at UC Berkeley, in part from the S/Key (TM) software developed at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore), and also includes enhancements developed at NRL. The term "S/Key" is a trademark of Bellcore and should not be used to refer to OPIE. Files in this directory ======================= The file opie-2.22.tar.gz is the OPIE Version 2.22 Software Distribution. This software should work on any POSIX-compliant UNIX-like system (see the documentation for more details). It will probably not work on systems that lack POSIX compliance. It is distributed in tar format compressed with GNU Zip. The file OPIEcalc.sit.hqx is Dan McDonald's OPIE calculator for use on Macintosh systems (now at version 1.5). This calculator might also be useful for folks using the Bellcore S/Key (TM) software distribution. It is a fat binary (68k and PowerPC), and should even run on the soon-to-be- released 603 and 604 based Power Macs. If you are interested in one-time password technology on the Macintosh, there is a rough specification for a one-time password code resource in OPIEcalc.sit.hqx. Subdirectories ============== The 'old' subdirectory contains old versions of the OPIE software. The 'contrib' subdirectory contains various software packages that will interoperate with the OPIE software distribution. The files in this directory are not written or maintained by people at NRL and may not be the latest versions. They are in this directory for the convenience of OPIE users. We do not endorse, recommend, or support these programs in any way. The 'patches' subdirectory contains patches to third-party software on the 'net to use the OPIE library to provide OTP authentication. The files in this directory are provided as examples. We do not endorse, recommend, or support these programs in any way. The 'beta' subdirectory contains beta test versions of OPIE for the brave hearted. You should not use these for any production system.
