Required files
---------------

Unzip NB4LATEX.ZIP in your NB4 directory (usually C:\NB4)
You should obtain the following files:

	File name Purpose

1	NBLAPREP.RUN Calls NBLAPREP.EXE from Notabene
2	NBLAPREP.EXE Prepares Notabene deltas for editing
3	NBLAHELP.RUN Calls NB4LATEX.HLP
4	NB4LATEX.HLP Help file for Nota Bene
5	TRNB4LAT.BAT Batch file that executes NB4LATEX.EXE
6	TRNB4INP.BAT Another batch file
7	NB4LATEX.EXE Trasforms a Notabene file into LaTeX2e format
8	NB4LATEX.NB4 Document in Notabene format
9	NB4LATEX.LTX Document in LaTeX2e format
10	LOGIC.NB4 Table of symbols used in logic (Notabene format)
11	KDGREEK.STY Package to use Greek in LaTeX2e
				(requires KD fonts)
12	NBLAINDE.RUN Calls NB4LAIND.HLP
13	NB4LAIND.HLP Help file for indexing in Nota Bene
14	X6NOCIT.RUN Freezes X6 deltas
15	X2LAT.RUN Transforms Ibidem and Indexing deltas
16 INSTALL.TXT this file
17 MY.LIB NotaBene "library" that loads all the programs
18 TIME.RUN Utility that displays current time/date

Installation
------------
If you copy all the files in your NB4 directory, you are ready to go. Read
this file and the manual NB4LATEX.NB4 before running the program!
-----------------------------------
Important: running NB4LATEX.EXE on Notabene files written without using
NBLAPREP.RUN will produce some rubbish in the first lines.
Delete and substitute with the appropriate info (as \documentclass{...}
etc.).
-----------------------------------
The batch files have names different from the other filenames in order
to avoid confusions with the .exe file. Rename them if you do not like
the names. The batch files batch may obviously be customized. In this
form TRNB4LAT.BAT assumes that the input and output files have the same
name, but the former has ext "NB4" and the latter ext "LTX". The other
file batch outputs a file with extension "INC" and can be used for input
files. You may change the batch files however you like: for the EXE
program it is only essential to receive two filenames when called, one
for input and one for output.
*
The Document Classes supported are:
	- Article
	- Report
	- Custom (your own class)
	- Input file for long work, e.g. chapter of a book,
for example BOOK_1.INC BOOK_2.INC and so on.
In this case you will prepare 'manually' the main file,
e.g. BOOK.LTX, and include the others as 'include' files.
This choice will produce a LaTeX file without the usual
document information (as documentclass, usepackage, etc.),
that are normally put in the header of the main file.

Utilities for indexing
----------------------
The two files NBLAINDE.RUN and NB4LAIND.HLP offer a menu to help
users in the indexing process, in order to make a translation to
LaTeX possible. Please follow the instructions carefully, or your
index deltas will not be translated into LaTeX. Read also the
following paragraph for additional info.

Handling bibliography (Ibidem) entries
--------------------------------------
I assume that you like the way Ibidem treats your bibliographic
entries in text and you do not want them changed. Therefore I
have prepared a program that 'freezes' all the bibliographic
deltas (X6) in a such a form that will be recognized by LaTeX as
bibliographic entry (so you can use it along with the
bibliographic programs of LaTeX, if you want) but will not be
reformatted. This program is called X6NOCIT.RUN, and you must run
it in your file. Then you must run X2LAT.RUN that adds the final
details both to bibliographic and to indexing deltas.
In sum, to use indexing and bibliographies effectively
under Nb4 ---> LaTeX you should:
        (*) use NBLAINDE.RUN during editing
Before translating the file to LaTeX:
        (*) run X6NOCIT.RUN
        (*) run X2LAT.RUN

It is advisable to perform all these operations on a copy of the
original file, in order to leave the original NotaBene file
unchanged and ready for possible future re-editing.
If you want to import your Ibidem databases into BiBTeX
format, please use my other program called IB2BT (i.e. Ibidem to
BiBTeX).

Library to call all the programs
--------------------------------
A LIB file (labeled MY.LIB) loads the programs as follows:
--	key 'I': indexing files (NBLAINDE.RUN)
--	key 'L': main help screen (NBLAHELP.RUN)
--	key 'P': NBLAPREP.RUn (prepares input file)

Additionally, the weel known utility IGET is loaded in phrase G.
My little program TIME.RUN is loaded as phrase T. All the phrases
can be accessed with Alt-key.

Plain Dos or Win 3.1 users
--------------------------
This program needs Windows NT or Windows 95. To run the prgoram
under Plain Dos or Win 3.1 you must install in a directory
mentioned in your path the files provided in the zipped file
labeled 'no32.zip'.
