Allows to stop or reboot operating system from the command line.

Usage:  shutdown [-r|h] [-t seconds] [-f] [-m message]
Switches:
  -h         Halt the system
  -r         Reboot the system
  -f         Force applications with unsaved changes are to be closed
  -m message Message to display in the shutdown dialog box. Message containing
             spaces should be enclosed in quotes
             e.g. shutdown -h -t 60 -m "the system will be stopped!"
  -t seconds Time (in seconds) that the dialog box should be displayed.
             The shutdown process can be stopped by the "-a" option while
             this dialog box is displayed. 

  -c computer Specify computer to shutdown remotely (registered version only)

shutdown -a  Stops a system shutdown started with timeout

WARNING! The programm initiates a system shutdown without any confirmation!
You should have the system shutdown privilege to use this utility
