                               Command : ENGAGE

 SYNTAX:
   [mc ##] Command : engage <SECT> <SHIPS>

The engage command allows your surface naval combat ships to engage in a gun-
to-gun duel with non-allied ships located in the same sector. You specify a
sector in which the engagement will take place and a list of ships which will
participate in the combat.

All ships participating in the naval engagement must be in the same sector.
Ships that do not have guns, ships without crews, shells, or mobility may not
participate in an engagement, although such ships can be engaged by others.
Essentially, unarmed ships can't attack, but can be attacked. Note that armed
ships that happen to be out of mobility will function normally if engaged.

All ships in the sector in question that are owned by nations that do not have
a defense agreement with your country will be engaged by your attacking naval
force! The commander of your task force (represented here by the game) will
select targets and attempt to pound them into scrap. Each of your attacking
ships will select an enemy vessel closest in gunnery strength to itself; your
battleships will go for his battleships, your destroyers for his destroyers,

                               Command : ENGAGE

and so on. Each attacked ship will be given the chance to respond in kind.
At the end, any enemy ship which has not been fired upon will fire on your
remaining ships.

Note that this command only applies to surface ship combat, not submarines.
