                                Command : ASW

 SYNTAX:
   [mc ##] Command : asw <SECT> <ESCORTS>

The asw command is used to search out and destroy possible enemy submarines in
a particular sector. You specify a sector in which to conduct the mission,
and a list of sub-hunter ships that are to participate.

To participate in the asw operation, each of the specified ships must have the
ability to depthcharge submarines, must be in the target sector, must have
shells and crew, and must have mobility. Each participating ship will be
charged mobility, and if a ship actually drops depth charges, it will be
charged a number of shells equal to the number of Y-guns on the ship.

The chance for locating an enemy sub depends on the number of subs in the sec-
tor. Each ship has a 5% chance per submarine of actually being near a sub
during the search. If an escort is near a sub, it has a chance of spotting
equal to the chance of spotting a sub during a torpedo attack. If a sub is
spotted, the escort will launch a depthcharge attack on it, possibly inflict-
ing damage.

                                Command : ASW

Note that asw operations are tricky, and ships engaged on these operations may
sometimes find and attack "biologicals", mistaking them for submarines.
