VERSION HISTORY

***** Version 1.3.0 - 18 Feb 2005 - New Features And Functions

* Option to set CalcuNote to operate like an ADDING MACHINE.

* EMBEDDED CALCULATIONS for making calculations within calculations.

* GROUP TOTALS and GRAND TOTALS to quickly calculate the sum of the totals of many separate calculations.

* Options to show ITEM COUNTS with total lines, group totals, or grand totals.

* A set of DATA ENTRY OPTIONS for controlling which keystroke completes a calculation series and zeroes the calculator total in preparation for the next calculation. Used to minimize the number of keystrokes necessary to make many separate calculations.

* Option to AUTOMATICALLY INCREASE the number of DECIMAL PLACES used within a calculation whenever you enter a number with more decimal places than are currently specified.

* Option to HIDE NONESSENTIAL MENUS. Useful for making the main CalcuNote window as small as possible.

* Option to HIDE the BOTTOM WINDOW PANELS. Useful for making the main CalcuNote window as small as possible.

* The key combination Ctrl + PageUp moves the focus highlight directly to the first tape line.

* The key combination Ctrl + PageDown moves the focus highlight directly to the last tape line.

* GO directly TO a LINE on another enabled tape by entering a tape id followed by a line number into the "Line" box at the bottom left corner of the main CalcuNote window. Useful for following links to lines on different tapes.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.3.0 - 18 Feb 2005 - Changes In Behavior From Previous Versions

* The option "Automatically Start New Calculations" is now included in the group of options called "Data Entry" options. Selecting this option now affects only the visible tape instead of all tapes. Specifying "Automatically Start New Calculations" as the default Data Entry option applies the option to all new tapes at the time the tapes are initially enabled.

* When you press an arithmetic operator key while the focus highlight is in the entry cell of a subtotal line, a total line, or a zero total line, CalcuNote inserts a line after the line containing the focus highlight. In previous versions, CalcuNote issued a warning beep.

* Previous versions of CalcuNote cannot open files saved by version 1.3.0. Version 1.3.0 can open files saved by any previous version.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.3.0 - 18 Feb 2005 - Fixes To Bugs In Previous Versions

* Totaling a column of decimal numbers representing decimal hours, while the total was displayed as either hours:minutes or hours:minutes:seconds, gave inaccurate results due to an accumulated rounding error.

* Closing a previously saved file, after all the tapes in the file had been erased, did not create a message asking to save the files changes.

* Moving the focus highlight to a line containing a X, , P, or R arithmetic operator, and then pressing the minus key, replaced the highlighted text with a minus sign instead of creating a blank line after the line with the focus highlight.

* Annotation text was being lost when (1) a tape or calculation series was cut to the clipboard, (2) the cut tape or series was pasted onto a tape in a different file, and (3) annotations were NOT enabled for the receiving tape. Because the tape or series was cut, the annotation text could not be recovered.

* The Ctrl + 2 key combination to do a "copy side to entry with link" function was not working in versions 1.2.0 and 1.2.1.

* The correct line number of the line containing the focus highlight was not displayed in the Memory Line Number box when the Memory tape was initially displayed to recall a memory entry. This bug appeared in versions 1.2.0 and 1.2.1.

* After showing/hiding (1) the tape line number column, (2) sometimes the links column, and (3) sometimes the annotations column, the box containing the current line number at the bottom of the main window contained a "1", no matter which line contained the focus highlight. This bug appeared in versions 1.2.0 and 1.2.1.

* When a Zero Total Line was inserted after a subtotal line, the Links, Line Numbers, Table Columns, and Annotations columns were not filled with the ZTL color. This bug appeared in versions 1.2.0 and 1.2.1.

* When a line was deleted that contained a X, , P, or R arithmetic operator, and the total line following that line was assigned to a table column that contained data, no warning message was issued saying that a table column containing data would be removed from the table.

* When the only line in a calculation series was deleted, and the series total line was assigned to a table column that contained data, no warning message was issued saying that a table column containing data would be removed from the table.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.2.1 - 27 Jan 2004 - Fixes To Bugs In All Previous Versions

* A divide operation could not be done in the Chinese, Japanese, or Korean versions of Windows XP if the Regional and Language Options option "Language for non-Unicode programs" was set to "Chinese", "Japanese", or "Korean".

-------------------------

***** Version 1.2.0 - 13 Jan 2004 - New Features And Functions

* Ability to open, and work simultaneously with, more than one file at a time.

* Pressing the "a" key (for add) is equivalent to pressing the "+" key. Pressing the "a" key is more keystroke-efficient when calculating the sum of many numbers using the alphanumeric section of the keyboard. You do not have to repeatedly press the Shift key and the "+" key to do an add operation.

* Zero Total Lines are displayed on the screen with a user-changeable background color. This makes it easier to visually identify the separate calculations on a tape.

* A "Set Column Widths To Fit" menu item on the "Configure Tape" menu.

* Ability to set a minimum width for CalcuNote's main window when more than one file is open or when more than one tape is enabled. Setting a minimum window width prevents CalcuNote's automatic window-width-adjustment feature from hiding some of the file tabs or tape tabs after you have increased the window's width to make more of, or all of, the tabs visible.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.2.0 - 13 Jan 2004 - Changes In Behavior From Version 1.1.0

* Subtotals within a calculation are more appropriately marked with an "S". Only the final total within a calculation is marked with a "T". In all prior versions, all subtotals as well as the final total were marked with a "T".

* Pressing the ENTER key or "=" key when the focus highlight is in an entry cell that contains only an arithmetic operator, creates a subtotal line or total line at the line containing the focus highlight. In version 1.1.0, a warning beep was sounded, and CalcuNote waited for you to enter a number following the arithmetic operator.

* Opening a file places each enabled tapes focus highlight at the beginning of the tape. Version 1.1.0 placed each enabled tape's focus highlight at the end of the tape.

* CalcuNote versions 1.0.0 and 1.1.0 cannot open files saved by version 1.2.0. This is due to the marking of subtotals with an "S" as explained above. Version 1.2.0 can open files saved by any previous version of CalcuNote.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.2.0 - 13 Jan 2004 - Fixes To Bugs In Version 1.1.0

* After entering a table column number into a cell in the Table Columns column, a corresponding column did not appear in the Results Table. This occurred when Annotations were enabled after the table column number was entered but before that number was "committed" by pressing the ENTER key.

* Reducing CalcuNote's main window height, or moving CalcuNote's main window, moved the cell with the focus highlight into view even if it was not in view either (1) before the window height was reduced or (2) before the main window was moved.

* Printing a table to a Word document printed the filename footer even when the filename footer page layout checkbox was unchecked.

* If the screen font was changed for a file that had a Results Table enabled, and the file was saved and then closed at the time CalcuNote was shutdown, the Results Table did not display its data in the new font when that file was reopened after CalcuNote was started again.

* If the arithmetic operator character in an existing entry cell was changed from a "+" or "-" character to a "X", "", "R", or "P" character, and Annotations were enabled or disabled before the changed character in the entry cell was "committed" by pressing the ENTER key, total lines were not created either before or after the line containing the "X", "", "R", or "P" character. Totals in any other previously existing total lines that followed the changed entry cell were correctly recalculated.

* If reducing a Results Table column total's decimal places (or hiding the Results Table column total) reduced that column's width, and the columns heading did not fit into the new reduced column width, the columns heading was truncated instead of being re-word-wrapped.

* Moving a column in the Results Table using the arrow keys did not keep the target column in view.

* Moving a row in the Results Table using the arrow keys did not keep the target row in view.

* Clicking the "Side To Entry" button copied the current side tape total correctly, but incorrectly copied the annotation from the side tape line that contained the focus highlight instead of the annotation from the current side tape total line.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.1.0 - 1 Jul 2003 - New Features And Functions

* A Results Table for recording the results of repeated calculations. Its uses include the comparison of what-if calculations, the creation of reference tables, and the creation of conversion tables.

* Up to 17 Auxiliary Tapes are available for organizing, and working simultaneously with, several separate but related calculations.

* Stay-On-Top option.

* Option to set the calculator to automatically zero the calculator total and start a new calculation whenever you enter a number without a preceding arithmetic operator into the last line on a tape.

* Ability to create new Microsoft Word documents containing CalcuNote tapes in their print format if Word 2000 or 2002 (in addition to previously supported Word 97) is installed on your computer.

* Ability to insert a tape in its printed format into an existing Microsoft Word document.

* Ability to sort the numbers on a tape.

* Ability to insert a "new" calculation series into the middle of, or at the beginning of, a tape.

* Ability to print any enabled tape directly to the printer instead of having to copy it to the main tape first.

* Ability to specify that only a part of a Link Source's annotation be copied to its Link Destinations.

* Ability to specify that only a part of a Link Destination's annotation be overwritten by its Link Source's annotation.

* Ability to quickly copy, or create a link to, another tape's current total.

* The "file changed" dialog window that appears when you select the menu items "File > New", "File > Open", "File > Reopen", or "File > Exit" now contains a "Cancel" button so that you can cancel the menu item's action and return to working with the current set of tapes.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.1.0 - 1 Jul 2003 - Changes In Behavior From Version 1.0.0

* Copying and pasting a tape line in version 1.0.0 always pasted the line's annotation into the receiving line. Now, if the receiving line already has an annotation, it is left unchanged.

* Clicking the "copy series to side" button in version 1.0.0 copied any link destinations in the series to the side tape. Now, the link destinations are not copied. The copy of the series on the side tape represents an unchanging "snapshot" of the original calculation.

* In version 1.0.0, doing a quick copy of a tape line's entry contents into the entry cell of a line that is a link source automatically broke the link. Now the link is retained.

-------------------------

***** Version 1.1.0 - 1 Jul 2003 - Fixes To Bugs In Version 1.0.0

* A user could create a circular link that was not detected by the program. This would cause the program to stop responding to user commands, and the program could not be terminated normally. If a user (1) copied or cut a tape line that is a link source or link destination, (2) pasted it to a tape line that is a link source or link destination, and (3) the new position of the pasted tape line created a circular link, then the program did not detect that circular link.

* On some systems that had no printer installed, on almost every keystroke a window was displayed containing the message "no default printer assigned". The program could not be terminated normally.

* A file saved on a system using a specific decimal separator character (used in one country) could not be opened on a system using a different decimal separator character (used in another country), because the decimal separators in the numbers specifying the page margin sizes were not being translated from one countrys setting to the others when the file was opened.

* When a file that was saved on a system in one country was opened on a system in another country, the fraction leader character was not translated properly for the other country. The wrong fraction leader character was displayed on the tape.

* When deleting the only line in a calculation series, all other lines in the series (that is, the total indicator line, the total number line, and the zero total line) were correctly deleted also. But the calculation series following the deleted series was temporarily redisplayed with its total type and number of decimal places changed to that of the deleted series.

* When the multiplication of decimal numbers in a calculation series with an "hh:mm" total type resulted in a number that exceeded the calculators capacity, the calculator did not detect the condition and issue a warning beep. Instead, a system dialog window appeared with the message "invalid floating point operation".

* When printing a tape to a Microsoft Word document using the "landscape" page orientation, the page margin sizes were set incorrectly.

* When a tape line was deleted or inserted, or when the menu item "Configure Tape > Show Links" was selected, all the heights of linked lines on the tape were reset to the default value. If the line heights had been increased by the user to view long annotations, a portion of the annotations were removed from view.

* With the Line Number column NOT showing, recalling an entry from the Memory tape caused the Line Number column to show on the memory tape but not on any of the other enabled tapes. After the bug fix, recalling an entry from the Memory tape does not cause the Line Number column to show on the Memory tape if the column was not showing before the recall.

* When an entry cell contained any of the arithmetic operators "X", "", "P", or "R" followed by a minus sign followed by any number (example, "X-3.14"), entering a plus sign when the insertion point was between the minus sign and the next digit, caused the plus sign to appear at the insertion point (example, "X-+3.14") rather than creating a new line with the plus sign in its entry cell.

* An equal sign character ( = ) erroneously appeared in the entries column on the last tape line when (1) the entry cell in the line before the last line contained a number entered by the user, (2) the entry cell in the last tape line was blank and contained the focus highlight, (3) the equals ( = ) key was pressed.

* The default Page Layout parameter "ShowTapeBorderLines" was not being saved.

* When the user saved the Page Layout settings as defaults, the margin sizes and number of column groups were not checked for valid values.

* In the Page Layout window, the user could enter an invalid page margin size, then select another tabbed page. After new page was selected, a message window appeared with message "Cannot focus a disabled or invisible window".

* The page layout default printer page orientation setting of "landscape" was not being saved.

* If the last tape line was designated as a link destination, and the number in its entry cell was subsequently changed before continuing on to create the next tape line, the link remained instead of being automatically unlinked.

* If the last tape line was designated as a link destination, and the links sign was subsequently changed before continuing on to create the next tape line, the links sign change did not take effect.
