1. ShopAssist may not run correctly under Windows Vista default security settings. One or more of the following will allow you to run ShopAssist under Windows Vista.
i Deactivate User Access Control (UAC). To do this, go to Vista Control Panel, go to Search and type in User Access Control (or UAC). An option will appear allowing you to deactivate User Access Control. You will need to be logged in with Administrator rights to do this.
ii Run ShopAssist as Administrator. To do this, find ShopAssists main executable file (c:\sa\sa.exe) in Windows Explorer (it must be the executable file itself, not a link to the file), right-click on the file, click Properties and enable Run As Administrator.
iii Run ShopAssist in Compatibility mode. To do this, find ShopAssists main executable file (c:\sa\sa.exe) in Windows Explorer (it must be the executable file itself, not a link to the file), right-click on the file, click Properties and enable Run This Program In Compatibility Mode.
iv In Windows Explorer (after installing ShopAssist, but before running ShopAssist for the first time), find the file vista_create_manifest.~ba in the temporary install directory and rename it to vista_create_manifest.bat. Double-click on the file (vista_create_manifest.bat) to run it. If successful, a new file c:\sa\sa.exe.manifest will be created. This file, if present in the c:\sa\ directory, will request elevated privileges for ShopAssist when it starts up.
v In ShopAssist, go to Managerial > Preferences > Advanced 1, enable the Windows XP And Vista > Run With Elevated Privileges option (if not already enabled) and click the Apply button.

2. Windows Vista does not natively support the older Windows .hlp file format. The first time you try open the ShopAssist help file, you will be given notice to this effect and offered the option to install an update from Microsoft's web site. The help file may be viewed once the update has been installed.
