NCSA Telnet2.4 Beta 6 - Mac TCP - This is the beta release of NCSA Telnet 2.4. This version of telnet supports line-mode negotiations, auto-numbered sessions, staggered windows, and dozens of bug fixes from v2.3. Some other bugs that were fixed: 1) Telnet now can handle ftp sessions where more than 64 files are ftpd. This caused a crash in previous versions. 2) There is no longer a problem with Telnet spontaneously hammering the cursor into random bits. 3) Telnet now handles large copy/pasting correctly. This used to sometimes cause a crash. 4) About two dozen other misc. bugs have also been fixed, a lot of which were pertaining to the way telnet was managing memory. NOTE: This version also has support for TEK4105 emulation, but in this beta verison it still does not work correctly. We are aware of SOME of the problems with the Tektronics emulation, and are working on correcting this. Please, however, let us know of any specific problems you have with the TEK emulation. Also, there have been a lot of requests to change the way that the vtlines in config.tel is handled. Currently, Telnet makes the window size exectly what the mainframe requests it to be. So even if the config.tel says that the window should be 30 lines, if the mainframe sets it to 24 lines then telnet will be using 24 lines. Please send all subsequent bug reports to telbug@ncsa.uiuc.edu - Scott Bulmahn 12/27/90
