VVcode is a new binary/ascii conversion system. It takes the
best features of such programs as UUencode, XXencode, BinHex,
Stuffit, Macbinary, BOO, Telcode, MFTU, Netdata, and unifies and
extends them in a single pair of programs: VVencode and VVdecode.

VVcode is specifically designed to deal elegantly and
intelligently with OS-specific file structures (such as
data/resource forks on the Mac, record-oriented file systems like
VMS) when transferring between OS platforms.

VVcode also incorporates CRC data-integrity checks, character-set
conversion (ASCII/EBCDIC), automatic file splitting and
recombining, mail-header stripping, etc. (see vvintro).

VVdecode can also decode UUencoded and XXencoded files.

The source-code for these programs is freely available.

This is a beta release.
